The colonization of America was neither good or bad. It was a event that couldn't be unstopable, sooner or later it was going to happen. It was more positive than negative, so at the end it resulted to be in a good way. It was the beginning of globalization.
Colonization in the Americas was neither entirely good, nor entirely bad, it just was. I believe this because the colonizatin braught good things such as ethnical diffusion, and it sped up the technological advancments. It was bad because the colonizers took every resource that their colonies had and now there are many countries that cannot sustain themselves because of it.
in my opinion it was positive, because people during that time started to know that there was more land out there. Thanks to that after that event people started discovering new lands.
For me, the colonization of the America's was bad because even though it led to the beginning of technology and civilizations, it resulted in the extinction of many native races that used to habitate this zone.
It was both good and bad. Good because we were introduced to more advances and new technology providing the America's a more fulfilling life. But it was bad because the Europeans abused of the inhabitants and killing nearly all natives and stealing all the resources.
I belive that the colonization of America brought many positive inovations. Eventhough the europeans treated the indians badly, they brohgt many resorces to the Americas. They brought sugar and other materials that we dindt have. They also brought their culture, that is the one we have now. The europeans made the Americas modern and civilized.
Salvador, I afree with you. It wwas neither good or bad. It had a bad part and a good part. And I also agree that it was bad because now a days countries cannot sustain themselves.
Memo, I believe that you are wrong, the colonization wasn't more positive than negative, because even though it led to globalization, there are many economies in deficeit because the colonizers took all their recources.
ERNESTO: I don't completely agree with your argument, because it wasn't entirely bad. Imagine how the Americas would have been if it had never been colonized?
i believe that colonization was a good thing because we need to discover everything that is in our planet so we can use it for the greater good. it also helps the world get more civilized.
America's colonization I believe it was negative because the people that originally lived in this land where mostly exterminated. The Europeans didn't respect their rights. So it was positive for the europeans it brought many riches, but to the people these lands belonged to it brought death and enslavement.
I believe that the colonization of the Americas was good. It brought the improvement of the lives of the natives, and the advance in technology. But it could be a little bad in a way: the native suffered from this, and they were treated not as people but as animals.
I believe that the colonization of america was good. I say this since it brought many innovations. Memo... I also agree with your opinion but i believe that it could be stopable!..:)
Salvador, you have a point because it was true that the colonization brought technology to the Americas, but I strongly feel that it could have been done in a way that the races that first lived here wouldn't have been extinguished.
Ernesto, I disagree with you, because if it werent because of the europeans, we would be running around naked and talking indian language. Eventhough they killed the natives, they helped us take a big step.
MARIA CRISTINA: i agree with what you say about the positive things and part with the negative.. but if the spanish wouldn't have done that, we would still be very uncivilized and not up to date.
For me the colonizaton of America was good. It helped us advanced in technology, which we really needed at that time. Although nobody knows what would actually happen if we weren't colonized by them, so it's difficult to say with certainty.
Bad, Bad, Bad. They destroyed native cultures (e.g. Taino), introduced pests as rats, wasps, mangooses, bull-frogs, sparrows. They just destroyed everything. Dwindelled to extinction wonderfull species like the West Indian Monk Seal, Puerto Rican Sloth, 4 out of 5 species of Solenodon (Endemic mammals), 5 out of 6 species of jutias (Other endemic mammals), the Hispaniolan Green racer (An endemic snake), and for sure many species that didn't even have time to be discovered.
I think it would have been better if the colonization happened in our days, when people are more concious, and not that stupid.
You know Macri, I'm going to have to agree that the colonization wasn't neither good or bad because imagine if we had to walk around naked and live without electricity or if we had to live in small huts.
Salvador: America is in economic trouble because it did not manage it resources correctly. Look Japan, its scarcly out of resource, but it is able to be one of the most prosperous economies. At the time of the colonization America was even more proseprous than many old European Nation.
The colonization of americas was an event that needed to happen in order for the human knowledge to evolutionize. This event had good part and bad parts such as the extinction of the tainos.
Ernesto, you are right, it was an atrocious thing that was done by the colonizers, but it was not entirely bad because it helped in the evolution of the world.
Cristina.. I kind of agree with you cristina.. colonization was good.. but maybe if we wouldn't be colonized our race would not be totally destroyed and wouldn't suffer that much as it they did.. But it did help us develop new technologies.
Marcel: The discovery of America was unstopable. The Spanish weren't the first, many other group of people were first. The spanish were the ones who make to the pubic eye.
Memo: yes america was more prosperous at the time of colonization than most European countries, but these European nations took most if not all of the main resources of these new lands.
The colonization of America was good, from the spanish's point of view as an immediate and long term effect, because it brought them great riches, and placed them as a world power. Yet from the native americans point of view for what immediate effects concerns it was disastrous. Spanish obliberated the native americans, yet on the long tem effects the spanish moddernized native americans way of style.
The colonization of America was neither good nor bad. It can’t be considered either one because it brought good things such as modernization and new technologies. But on its downside it brought the death of many innocent people, and even lead to the extermination of an entire race.
Ernesto: We have seen many races disapear. It is Darwin's LAw that the strogest get to survive. The native weren't able to keep up with the time, so they got extint, but all in central and south america there are many indeginous people alive so it was only a small amount of natives extint.
I believe that the colonization of America was in essence, good. The resources that were extracted from these territories fueled the economies of Europe, which eventually led to countless technological advancements. In turn, this led to the modernization of the world itself and all of its benefits. However, not only did this prove to be an economically beneficial, but also enriched our knowledge of nature and discredited any theory that the world was flat. All in all, the results were positive.
ElAINE: i agree with you on the last part you said: "Although nobody knows what would actually happen if we weren't colonized by them, so it's difficult to say with certainty." But also remmeber that the natives had suffered by it, and lost their gold because of this colonization, even their culture was taken away. So its hard to say that it was entirely good.
I believe that the Colonization of the Americas was Good and bad. In the point of view of the Europeans it was good because it brought for them many riches as gold, and other natural resources. But for the native it was bad because they lost all their riches and they were enslaved and treated very badly. Also because the Europeans enforced their language, religion and their way of life on the natives. And most of the native were killed. Wanda i believe that your right the colonization also brought improvements to the lives of the native.
Javier, what you say is true. Also, I should add that not only Spain benefited from this discovery, but many European nations, as I explain in my argument.
For me the colonization of America was more positive than negative. Because without that we would me or less advanced or maybe would not be discovered. it has good things and bad things, but i think its more positive than negative. Also in this time there where a lot of advances because of this colonization at this time.
Manuel: The way you portray your believe is the way a spanish would have described this event in those times. Of course, it helped golbal economy, yet the native american race was almost estinguished and their culture was lost in history.
Lyanne, I really liked the fact that you focused on all the innovations and changes that the colonization brought, since I also believe that this was the start of the world’s modernization.
Manuel: It is true what you say, yet it was mainly the Spanish'd economy that boosted to the roof. Other countries were benefited in a more indirect manner and not as much as Spain.
Javier, I agree with what you say about the Native Americans. Terrible atrocities were commited. However, these were merely side effects of the colonization, the errors in the way that it was done. You cannot say that the colonization was truly a mistake. Oh, and the Native Americans weren't entirely wiped out, just visit a reservoir or a museum if you want to know of their culture.
LYANNE: I COMPLETELY disagree with you, even though, they brought their culture, because of them we lost many native cultures. They brought many things that wearen't here (e.g. sugar), MOST of them were not beneficiall for us. Rats, Roaches, Mangooses, Mice, and even sparrows are species that compete for ecological niche availabity, with native and endemic species that may be even better for us, and I shouldn't have the necessity to say that all those introduced species are pests that spoil complete plantation, eat and contamine goods, and are vectors of deadly diseases such as Leptospirosis, Botulism, Salmonella, etc.
Ernesto: eventhough it led to the extinction of the tainos, it lead to more good things than bad like discovery of new lands, technology etc.. every good thing has a bad part.
Antonio, I agree with you in it having both its positive and negative side, but even though Columbus wouldn’t have reached America, someone else would have. So the extermination of the Native Americans was something inevitable since they where a very weak race.
Manuel you are just taking the Eurpoean point of veiw, but look at the countries of Latin America, most of them are destroyed because they don't have enough resources to satisfy the demands of their people. This happens because in colonial era the Europeans took many if not all of the valuable resources we had.
Marcos, I will have to disagree with you partly. The europeans may have brought insects and stuff, but I belive that all the inovations that they brought made us grow more. I believe that the insects would be the last thing people would think about when they talk about conolizaltion. I'm not saying that's not important, but the europeans brought better things to America.
Carla: I do agree with you absolutely. Yet I must say it was better than it was worst. Yes, it did kill many native americans, but these were only side effects. The colonization brought great riches to europe, giving Spain and the americans a great boost in its economy, and modernizing the americans.
Javier: Yes, Javier I do agree with you, it did bring more good things than bad, but as a long term consequence. It was not something that happened right away, as the death of millions of innocent people did.
Javier, you and Manuel speak of the same, yes, the colonization might have taken us out of the paleolithical era the natives lived in, but at what cost, scarce resources, corruption, violence. I believe it was as good as it was bad.
Marcos..i guess thats true but if it hadnt of happened you would be without many things including many of the books you read the music you listen to and many of the technical things you own...i dont think you or anyone else would be very hapy without these things.
Carla I know it had to happen, but what I am saying that it was negative for them! now they are all of them are 10 feet below, but for us now it was good i can say for all of the class that our ancestors came from other countries. For them it was very good the colonization, we all have different backgrounds some of us are Italian some are American and from many other countries. So I state that for the native people the colonization was negative, but for immigrants such as ourselves it was very positive.
Adriana, I agree with you. The colonization of America did bring many advances in technology. But it most never be forgotten the price that also came with it. And that was the death of many innocent people, and even lead to the extinction of a human race.
colonization was going to happen anyways it was a matter of time and it did maybe it would of been better if things turned out diffrently but thats how it happend
the colonization of the americas was good in my opinion, because many animals, vegetables, fruits, and cash crops were found. without the americas discovery, maybe the world would still be the way it was in the 1700s or 1600s. without the discovery of the americas you might not be alive right now.

I agree with salvador! It is true that it was positive but for the european, but now it has brought debt to other modern nations.
ernesto: but if that didn't happen then we wouldn't be were we stand today..
